Indicolite (Blue)

     Black Tourmaline (Schrol) is an incredibly supportive stone that protects us form external influences, dispersing stress, tension, and negative energy. It grounds and anchors light energy within they physical body, promoting inner wisdom, mastery, individuality, stability, courage, and patience being peace to the heart and mind.      Quartz and Tourmaline often crystallize together to form Tourmaline Quartz: Quartz that has long, thin needles of Tourmaline embedded within it. It usually contains the most common variety of Tourmaline – the black crystals of Schorl – but it can be any kind. Turquoise

     Early Europeans gave this stone the name Pierre Turquoise (Turkish Stone) in the belief that it came from Asia Minor. However, this was simply where Europeans first traded stones originating from desert regions such as Iran, Sinai, and Tibet. Turquoise is formed by water acting on Aluminum and Copper, which gives the stone its blue coloration. Turquoise is porous, and can be discolored by oil and grease. Shades of green come from iron impurities. The stone has always been popular as a protective amulet. In Renaissance Europe no gentleman would be seen without a Turquoise set in a ring to ward off riding or dueling accidents. In many cultures the sky blue Turquoise is combined with an earthy red or orange stone, such as Coral or Carnelian, to harness the combined protection of heaven and Earth.

Ulexite

  • Color: Clear and White.

  • Luster: Silky to Vitreous.

  • Hardness: 2.5

  • System: Triclinic

  • Origins: United States

  • Healing: Aids visionary experiences (soul travel, lucid dreaming, remote viewing, and so on). Enables us to approach problems with clarity and focus. Provides Inspiration. Resolves blocks in our emotions. Stimulates Insight.

  • Magical Attributes: Facilitates Immediate Communication. Helps us to weigh up opposing points of view.

 

     This stone forms in sedimentary Borax deposits in salt lake basins and arid desert conditions. Clear crystals of Ulexite are often maned “TV stones” because, when placed on writing or a picture, the thin crystals act like fiber-optic cables, perfectly transferring the image to the top face of the stone as is it were on screen.

Unakite

  • Color: Green and Pink.

  • Luster: Vitreous

  • Hardness: 6 - 7

  • System: None

  • Origins: South Africa, Switzerland, United States, and Zimbabwe.

  • Healing: Encourages us to take a detached view of our lives, problems, and accomplishments. Enhances feelings of Self-Worth. Focuses attention on the present, helping us to distance ourselves from past difficulties. Gently releases Emotional Blocks.

  • Magical Attributes: Helps to Resolve Conflicts. Lessens Constrictions that we might feel in our lives.

     Composed of a mixture of pink Feldspars, green Epidote, and Quartz, Unakite is remarkably similar in structure to Granite. The result is an opaque, pastel mix with constating areas of pink and green. This combination of colors works particularly well with the energies of the heart, where the pink strengthens our sense of identity and helps to release emotional stress and the green encourages a sense of expansion and growth in a calm and balanced way. As a rock of massive, opaque form, Unakite prevents us from getting too wrapped up in our emotions, lending a practical, down-to-earth energy to any healing process in which it is used.

Vesuvianite

  • Color: Black-Green, Brown, Green, and Yellow (rarely Blue, Colorless, or Purple).

  • Luster: Dull and Vitreous.

  • Hardness: 6 - 7

  • System: Tetragonal

  • Origins: Canada and Italy.

  • Healing: Helps to bring Resolution and Stability. Reduces confusion and clarifies complex situations.

  • Magical Attributes: Brings about Transformation and Creates Illusions. Can cause a change of appearance. Suggests a new way of looking at situations.

 

     Named after the volcano Mount Vesuvius in Italy, Vesuvianite is another name for Idocrase. It forms in metamorphic conditions where there is limestone or dolomite. Vesuvianite’s clarity and variety of colors makes it both a useful and attractive gemstone. One of its more appealing forms comprises a large central crystal surrounded by smaller radiating crystals. The 18th century poet-scientist Johann Wolfgang von Goethe found it so beautiful that he wrote an epic poem about the stone.

Zeolite

  • Color: Gray-White, Red, White, and Yellow.

  • Luster: Pearl to Vitreous.

  • Hardness: 3 - 5

  • System: Mostly Monoclinic

  • Origins: Italy, Japan, and United States.

  • Healing: Helps us to show sensitivity to others. Instills in us the confidence and drive to begin new ventures. Suggests a broad, more optimistic approach.

  • Magical Attributes: Encourages Humor, Innovation, and Support. Motivates groups of people to stand together. Provides access to Collective Consciousness.

 

     Members of the Zeolite family often grow together on a common matrix and can be difficult to tell apart. Individual varieties are of limited interest to the crystal healer. But together they exude a strong collective energy, suggestive of harmony and cooperation.

Zincite

  • Color: Acid Green, Orange, and Red.

  • Luster: Adamantine

  • Hardness: 4 – 5.5

  • System: Hexagonal

  • Origins: Australia, Austria, Brazil, Bulgaria, China, Czech Republic, Democratic Republic of Congo, Egypt, England, France, Germany, Greece, India, Iran, Italy, Jordan, Nigeria, Norway, Peru, Poland, Russia, Slovakia, Sweden, Tunisia, United States, and Zambia.

  • Healing: Clear energy blocks anywhere in the Chakra system, allowing a better flow of energy within the entire system.

     The red oxide of Zinc, Zincite is among a growing number of artificial crystals entering the market. Small hexagonal crystals entering the market. Small hexagonal crystals occur naturally, but are rare. The first large Zincite crystals were produced unintentionally as a result of an underground fire in a Polish Zinc mine, but most are now created specifically for sale as a by-product of the zinc-smelting process. Unlike some other manufactured crystals, Zincite is non-toxic and chemically stable. A happy accident itself, Zincite suggests unexpected results and surprises. Its colors are activating and stimulating, and its intense luster emphasizes its enlivening qualities.

Zircon

  • Color: Clear; most colorless.

  • Luster: Vitreous to Adamantine.

  • Hardness: 7.5

  • System: Tetragonal

  • Origins: Australia, Cambodia, Canada, Madagascar, Myanmar, Sri Lanka, Thailand, and Ukraine.

     This stone occurs as small pyramidal or prismatic crystals in igneous rock, such as pegmatite. It is a hard stone, resistant to erosion, and can therefore be found in river deposits and sandstone. The colorless variety of Zircon is often used as an imitation Diamond or indeed, as a gemstone in its own right. Gem-quality stones tend to come from the Far East and Australia. When it comes to healing, Zircon is a magical, transformative stone, with the ability to reveal hidden truths.
