Though Devas became famous at a place called Findhorn in Scotland, they can be found anywhere in the world and may have originated in Persia. Devas are very small creatures, often invisible to the naked eye, but identifiable in photographs as balls of light. Some believe that they're golden faeries with brightly colored robes, if you were able to see through their bright orbs of light. A Deva's main goal is to help plants grow, so they are vital to having healthy crops or a prize-winning garden. Every plant process is guided by devas, from germination of the seeds to flowering and production of fruit and even the death of the plant. Although they're main concern is plants, they can also help with weather magic, animals, or even human health and beauty.

The Dinnshenchas is also an old collection of Irish stories. They are found in pastures, or at shrines to Aine which are found in her home county, Kilkenny. Dracs are similar to the German the Nix. They are known as Draca in England where they are less well-known. In their natural state as floating purple blobs on the surface of water. However, they are more often seen in the form of a golden chalice of in a female human form. They are dangerous to approach and are active all year. They are not bound to live in water, but do seem to prefer it there. Sometimes they may be found in damp, mossy caves and rocky outcroppings near bodies of water. Many are seen in the English Channel, but their original home was the Seine River, which had been their kingdom. They are always looking for human males to take as mates. They lure them by appearing as beautiful women or a golden chalice. When an unsuspecting man reaches down to grab it, they drag him down to their kingdom. They are found in the waters of France and by the western sea in Faerieland. If you'd like to meet one, try making a call to one while in Faerieland at the Western Sea, or near a body of water. Do not get close enough to let one touch you.

Drakes have never been seen by a human, but they have been smelled. They are benevolent house spirits who will bless your hearth and multiply and keep your firewood dry in exchange for living in your home. They are most active from nightfall until just past dawn. They are very kindly, and have never been known to react badly to human mistreatment. When they are not welcome, they simply leave. The one drawback is that they do not smell pleasant. Their odor has been described as a cross between rotten eggs and a dirty chicken coop. They are found in wood piles, at hearth sides, and deep in woods with old trees and prefer rural areas. To contact them, invite them to your hearth. Leave food and provide warmth to keep them. If you have no fireplace in your home, then provide one in your astral home. Besides providing you with dry firewood, a Drake can lend energy to any spell done in the fireplace.

Tree spirits and tree fairies are found throughout the world. Their element is air, and they are tree dwelling spirits. They are playful and seem androgynous, but always referred to as female. They appear as enchanting wisps of pure light, sometimes lightly coloured in trees. They prefer willow trees, but live in the 13 Celtic Sacred Trees. It is said the Dryads gave the Druids the secrets on tree magic and helped them in learning about divination and astral travel. They are most often found in a grove of trees, in either the physical or astral realm. Also look for the Faery Triad of oak, ash, and thorn, or in brown, birch, and elder trees. To contact them, invite them to your circle and ask them to join you in your ritual. They often show up in the astral realm's circle when the spirits and guardians of the east are called.

The males of these Swiss Dwarf faeries are called Hardmandlene, while the females are called Erdbiberli. Though they do have webbed feet, they can't swim and keep their feet hidden by wearing long, hooded cloaks. A Duckfoot has magical control over the weather, but as they are shy around humans, they're unlikely to offer help with the weather to just anyone. In the past, farmers were able to gain the favor of a Duckfoot by being polite. Pleasant weather would follow, helping the crops ro ripen.

Though they first appeared in Spain, they migrated with the Spanish people to the Americas. Duendes always appear as small women with long and slender fingers that taper to a point. They wear green robes and live solitary lives. Duendes are extremely envious and possessive, and especially like to try to take over a human home and drive its human occupants away. Though they do tidy the house they infest since they like order in their environment, make no mistake, they aren't trying to help. A Duende will set about creating cruel practical jokes, moving furniture, and tossing and breaking objects in the home. Things can get quite dangerous if a Duende starts throwing cutlery. The best course of action is your home becomes infested is to evict her. Any attempts to placate her will only make her envious about what resources you have that she doesn't.

Originated in England, through the name is Franco-Spanish and may have been brought to England with the Norman conquest in 1066. They are malicious dwarf faeries who, like Trolls, prey on travelers. They wear lambskin jackets, moleskin shoes and green hats, and they stand just under two feet tall. They are very surly and dislike people. They are active all year and are solitary faeries who guard faerie paths and steer humans away from them. They are the self-appointed guardian of the faerie peoples. When they have no faerie paths to guard, they turn their vicious pranks on travelers. Two of their favorite past times are creating a confusing fork in the road and removing human directional signposts. They are, fortunately, a nearly vanished race. They are found near faerie paths all over Faerieland.

Dybbukkim are Jewish spirits that're demonic in nature. They're invisible, but can possess people to take the form of humans. They travel through the air in search of people arguing or fighting loudly. Feeding off the energy of discord, the Dybbuk waits until a human becomes vulnerable through acts of evil or violence. When said person becomes spiritually weakened, the Dybbuk possesses them, gaining a physical form. Dubbukkim are never helpful, they're always harmful, especially since they halt any healing involving spiritual afflictions.

Elves are found worldwide, but each land has various different elf faeries which go by many names. They are generally small and chubby, but dress differently depending on what land they come from. Most are kind and beneficial to humans, and very few are actually dangerous. A general rule is, trooping Elves are good, and solitary Elves are bad. They are most active usually at night. They can sew and spin pretty well, and can spin gold from grain (like in Rumpelstiltskin). They have few enemies, but the most noted enemy is cats. Mice are their familiars, and have sometimes appeared disguised as mice. Elves are found in fields, homes, woodlands, and all over Faeryland. To contact them, invite them to your circle or home, leave out food or milk, and lock up the cat! Most can be asked to aid in home protection rituals and help with the raising of energy for all types of spell and ritual work.

He wears a crown of gold and other finery. If he looks miserable and suffering, the person will die a horrible death. If he looks peaceful and jolly, the person's death will be peaceful.

It has one of everything (one head, one eye, one ear, one arm, one leg, one toe, etc.) all centered directly down the middle of his hairy and feathered body. He carries a spiked club in his hand which he swings as he chases away visitors from his home atop the highest Highland mountains. He is active all year and is jealous of flight. They are anthropomorphic and have made it clear they wish to avoid humans, but they do not seem to wish us any harm. Fin Folk are unlikely to invite you to visit unless you commit yourself to helping underwater plants and animals thrive as much as they do. They are found under the lochs of Scotland, an easy to go in the astral plane. Approach them with caution.

Fir Darrigs (Fear Durgs)

He is morbidly dangerous who like carrion and his shillelagh (Irish walking stick) is topped with a skull of unknown origin. They are most active during the winter months. They like to enjoy the heat near human hearths, but make their homes in damp raths or marshes near the sea. They are found around polluted coastlines, swamps, marshes, and in coastal ruins. Fireesin (Fear-ee-sheen)

Do not express offense at their nudity unless you wish them to be hurt and offended and leave your service, and they will not leave your service in peace, your crops could be devastated. They are found in fields that are either about to be cultivated or harvested. To contact them, watch for them to appear, and then ask them if you may approach as a friends.

They appear to be human, only their lower bodies and feet gradually taper and disappear into mist as if they were the bottoms of waterfalls themselves. Fossegrim enjoy taking the form of particularly attractive humans, even though they don't have any gender differences themselves. In fact, they can switch between male and female forms to properly trick whatever gender approches their waterfall homes. Though Fossegrim are not cruel, it would be wise to avoid becoming too attached to them, since they only want to toy with peoples hearts.

Once upon a time, Fox Spirits were considered protectors, teachers, providers, and sponsors of the occult and alchemical arts. The Foxes that serve as Inari's messengers are miracle workers, understood as sacred and godly. Fox Spirits tend to be sexually assertive, female spirits. As centuries passed and, society became more conservative, women were expected to be modest and subservient. They developed a bad reputation and became feared, especially in Japan and Korea. Fox Spirit possession isn't ritual possession or channeling; it's involuntary and invariably unpleasant. Degrees of Fox Spirits possession exist, depending upon the innate strength of the Fox and its victim. In Iceland, some people, especially those born with a caul over their head (a leftover membrane from the mother's womb) will have a faerie companion throughout life called a Fylgiar. Fylgiar's help its chosen person throughout his/her life, and perhaps even for some tie after a given lifespan. They remain invisible until shortly before their human's death, when they make an appearance to warn of the upcoming demise. If the Fylgiar appears as a beautiful and serene faerie, the death will be peaceful. If they appear mangled and in pain, the death will be terribly painful. If you've been blessed with a Fylgiar, you must serve the Fylgiar throughout your life in return for its service. Serving them can be done in dreams, or during meditation when the Fylgiar can give specific instructions for how it would like to be helped. This reciprocal relationship helps build a bond of trust that can last beyond death.

Indian Faeries called Gandharvas serve deities through music and dance. They are extremely small and live entirely underground. They are very shy and rarely emerge, though they are harmless to humans if they do. Gans are faeries that live in the mountains and wild places of the Southwest United States. Apache people used to honor them to avoid accidents or attacks by wild animals when they went out to explore or hunt. Gans are very friendly and helpful, but they require a lot of honor and ritual before they will choose to help humans at all. They may have shared the appearance of the ritual dress the Apache used, which involved white robes, black masks, and headdresses made of wood. They are found around a blazing fire at your hearth-side. To contact them, offer a simple evocation at your fireside, either physical or astral, with an offering of milk. Though Gianes may have originated in Italy, they can be found all over Europe. They look like elves dressed in peasant clothing and pointy hats of animal skin. They carry spinning wheel spindles in their back pocket and live solitary lives. Gaines spend most of their time spinning, weaving, and telling fortunes. They are friendly to humans. To seek your fortune from a Gaine, go out to the woods at night and ask for your fortune to be revealed. Beware that Gaines don't pull any punches, and may give you harsh news along with good. If you make friends with a Gaine, you may be given a piece of woven cloth. Keep it with you, as it will bring you good fortune.

Giants

Giants look like humans, only the are much larger. Ogres are about the same size as humans, but have deformed faces, excessive body hair, and sometimes a hump on their backs. Ogres are usually unfriendly; Giants have been known to be both friendly and nasty. They are active all year. Ogres are pretty much fearless, but Giants are terrified of cats. They are found in Faerieland. Many folk tales have reported them to live on clouds. Approach both of these fairies with extreme caution when you find one to first ascertain his or her intent and mood.

Gitto (Ghee-toes)

They have an intensely malevolent nature and would love to harm humans if given the opportunity. They are found in fields after sundown between Samhain and Beltane. Contact is not advised.

Glaistigs

Scottish Glaistigs are solitary and territorial, living in the country near farms. They are shapeshifters who take on the form of woman, but always accidentally applies horse or goat parts to her body. Glaistigs hate men, and will kill them to suck out all their blood for sustenance. It may be that they are friendly to other members of the farming family, such as women, or even children or the elderly of either gender. They can be asked for help with the crops, by men should avoid them at all costs, even if they are not attracted to the Glaistig's female form.

They are dwarf faeries who appear to be rather old, this is because they mature at an early age and their average life span is around a thousand years. They reach maturity around a hundred years; at which time they stand about 12 inches tall and appear well past middle age. They are both male and female, adults, and children, wear old-fashioned peasant costume, and are kind-hearted and will always aid sick or frightened animals. They are active all year, but are best found around Autumn in Faerieland. Gnomes live in deep ancient forests under old oak trees. Their main occupation is the protection and healing of wildlife, though they may occasionally help a human along his or her spiritual path. Their only known enemies are martens and some owls, and humans who encroach on their homes. You can contact them with a simple invitation. Gnomes can help you protect yourself and pets.

The Jewish Golem is a creature created by a magical practitioner for a specific purpose. It is a thoughtform, rather than a sentient entity with which one can interact. Golems may take many forms, but they can be recognized by the vacant stare of something that has no mind of its own. Golems are harmless unless they have been created to harm, in which case they can be killed like a living thing, but without guilt, since they are essentially objects. In some tales, the Hebrew word Emet ("Truth") would be written on the Golems forehead to bring it to life. To destroy it, one would erase the aleph character to make the word Met, which means "death".
